5 Things About Apple iPhone 11
Updated: Aug 19, 2021
After months of rumours and specs leaks, Apple has finally announced the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Let’s take a look at the 5 things you should know about these phones.
1. New Ultra-wide Camera
The new iPhones all have an extra ultra-wide angle camera lens included now, with even the base iPhone 11 having the 12MP wide and 12MP ultra-wide. This camera lens has a 120° Field-Of-View so you’ll be able to capture much more in a picture than before. The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have a third telephoto camera, set in the square bump that we’ve seen being leaked previously.
2. Night Mode

Finally, Night Mode has come to the iPhone. This feature kicks in automatically when the phone detects that the surroundings are dark enough to warrant it, using adaptive bracketing to fuse images together, reducing motion and blur. It remains to be seen whether this actually performs as well as the Google Pixel’s Night mode, but from what was shown on stage, it looks to be very well implemented.
3. Slow Motion Selfies
Ever wanted to take a slo-mo selfie video but couldn’t because you can’t see what’s in frame if you position yourself behind the camera? Well, Apple has you covered there too. You can now take selfie videos of yourself with your hair majestically moving in the wind in slow motion if you’d like, thanks to the feature that Apple is dubbing the “slofies”.
The general opinion on the Internet right now is discontent over this, but really, how different is it from asking someone to take a slo-mo video of you? You’ll just get to do it yourself now.
4. 4K 60 fps
Mobile videographers out there, rejoice! Both the wide and ultra-wide cameras on the iPhone 11 series will be able to shoot in 4K, 60 fps with something Apple calls Cinematic Video Stabilisation. Content creators will have lots of fun with this new ability for sure.
5. Pro and Pro Max

Let’s talk a bit about the “Pro” versions of the iPhone 11, which power users will be more interested in. The battery on the iPhone 11 Pro lasts 4 hours longer than the iPhone XS and the iPhone 11 Pro Max lasts up to 5 hours longer than the iPhone XS Max.
All three models run on the new A13 Bionic chip, which is claimed to be the fastest CPU and GPU in a smartphone by Apple.
Deep Fusion is another functionality in the Pro and Pro Max that uses images from all three cameras to retain better detail and optimise images.
These phones will be available from 20 September 2019 onwards, and prices start from S$1,149 onwards. More information is available at Apple’s website. Stay tuned for our full review on the phones!
