Acer Launches Swift Edge, A 16-inch 4K OLED Laptop Weighing Just 1.17kg

You heard that right, Acer just introduced the Acer Swift Edge and it is exactly what the title says it is, possibly the world's lightest 16-inch 4K OLED laptop weighing in at just 1.17kg or 2.58lbs.

So we had the opportunity to take a look at the Swift Edge just a day earlier and needless to say, we were left feeling pretty impressed. This is latest top of the line lightweight laptop from Acer that's really designed for productivity on the go and aims to blend in perfectly in a hybrid working environment.

The Swift Edge has a really minimalistic design that's easy on the eyes in any professional setting while also retaining a sleek profile. Interestingly enough, Acer actually showed us a great example! The Swift Edge is just about the thickness of our five cent coin here in Singapore at 12.95mm. But durability isn't compromised at all for the chassis is made out of a magneium-aluminium alloy that we're certain will stand up to the test of time. In addition, there will be two colourway options. You can either go for a professional black look or get creative with a tinge of light blue.

But perhaps the main highlight of the Swift Edge isn't the exterior but rather, what's inside it. Easily lift the lid up with just one hand and you'll be greeted with a gorgeous 16-inch 4K OLED display that is just simply stunning. Not only does it feature a resolution of 3,840 x 2,400 in a 16:10 aspect ratio, it has a 0.2ms response time, provides 100% DCI-P3 coverage, gets up to 500 nits in peak brightness and supports VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 as well as being TUV Rheinland Eyesafe certified.

Honestly, if you've yet to try OLED out in a laptop, wait no longer. Go down to a store and experience it for yourself for it is that much better. OLED improves the visual experience unlike any other with vibrant and brilliant colours as well as true blacks for an unparalleled contrast ratio which brings even your everyday content on YouTube up a notch.

Display aside, the heart of the machine is pretty powerful too, featuring either an AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 6650U with 6 cores and 12 threads, or an AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U with 8 cores and 16 threads. These AMD Ryzen Pro 6000 series processors are based on the "Zen 3+" core architecture using TSMC's 6nm process technology which will provide not just performance but efficiency as well. Interestingly to note, the Pro processors does also integrate Microsoft Pluton right on the chip itself, which is a security processor designed by Microsoft to harden Windows 11 Pcs with additional protection for key things such as credentials and encryption. Things that you're very likely to be looking for if you're looking just for the one hybrid device for both work and play.

And despite all of the above mentioned, the Swift Edge still does boast an impressive amount of ports with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, two USB Type-A, a 3.5mm combo and a HDMI 2.1 port.

If you're interested, the Acer Swift Edge with the AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U and AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 6650U with be available on the official Acer store here in Singapore starting from today at S$2,598 and S$2,298 respectively. It'll also be available starting next week for other avenues such as retail stores island-wide and marketplaces including Lazada and Shopee.
