Adobe Introduces AI Tools to Enhance Stock Photography Business
Adobe introduces AI tools for image creation using stock photos. Original creators of stock images to be fairly compensated for AI-modified versions. Focus on legal compliance and artist compensation in content creation.
This development ensures that the original creators of the images are fairly compensated for their work.
Adobe, a leading company known for popular tools such as Photoshop, has been proactive in integrating AI capabilities into its software suite to compete with emerging image generation technologies such as those offered by OpenAI. The emphasis has been on creating legally compliant content for commercial use and fairly compensating artists for their efforts.
Adobe's latest tools allow customers to choose a stock image from the company's collection and apply AI modifications to tailor it to their specific needs. Importantly, the original image creators are compensated as if their unaltered work had been used, demonstrating Adobe's dedication to supporting artists.
Matthew Smith, Adobe's Vice President of Strategy, Design, and Emerging Products, emphasised the diverse needs of Adobe users. While some prefer to create images from text prompts, others prefer to customise existing stock imagery for their projects. Smith emphasised that generative AI complements rather than replaces stock imagery, creatives, and contributors, providing them with new opportunities to increase their earnings.
In a statement to Reuters, Smith explained, "A majority of people still have a blank canvas problem... Generative AI is not replacing stock (imagery). It's not replacing creatives or contributors. It's enhancing and giving them more potential opportunity to increase their earnings."
