Apple AirPods 3 and the New MacBook Pros Might Be Unveiled Before the End of 2021

If you're still anticipating the announcement of the Apple AirPods 3, then you might not have to wait until next year for that as according to DigiTimes, industry insiders believe that the wearables could still launch before 2021 ends.

The weekend before Apple's 14 September 2021 "California Streaming" event, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the third-generation AirPods will be featured in the aforementioned event. While that did not happen, there are new rumours stating that the AirPods 3 are already in mass production and that the technology company is preparing to launch them by the end of the year.

The last time Apple updated the AirPods lineup was in 2019 when the AirPods Pro was released. The new AirPods might have a different design that takes cues from the higher-end AirPods Pro but might not come with the "Pro" features. Rumours on whether or not the new wireless headphones will have silicone ear tips are mixed, with leaked images and renders showing both possibilities.

Aside from that, there have been speculations stating that the AirPods 3's charging case will have around a 20% larger battery versus that of the second-generation AirPods. This was shared on leaker Max Weinbach's alternate Twitter account @PineLeaks, where Weinbach also said that the charging case will come with wireless as a standard and that the new AirPods will sound similar to the AirPods 2 but with a bigger bass.

Just like the AirPods, the new MacBook Pros are rumoured to be released by the end of the year. Specifically, the MacBook Pro 14-inch (2021) and the Macbook Pro 16-inch (2021) could be unveiled within the next month, said Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.

"The Apple M1X chip, the likely name for a more graphics-intense and professional-focused M1 chip, is indeed still on tap for 2021. We'll likely see it show up first in a new range of MacBook Pros in the next month and a higher-end Mac mini at some point. The M1X has been developed in two variations: both with 10 CPU cores (eight high-performance and two high-efficiency) and either 16 or 32 graphics cores," wrote Gurman in the paywalled segment of his Power On newsletter.

Meanwhile, other speculations indicate that Apple will bring back MagSafe charging and that the new Pros will have a mini-LED display, a flat-edged design, an SD card slot with UHS-II support and a backlit Touch ID button.
