Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series is set to introduce major design changes, with new images revealing a slimmer and more refined look across the lineup.

A report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman highlights the iPhone 17 Air, a new model aimed at offering a thinner device at a midrange price. Gurman suggests that while the Air may not break sales records, it could outperform previous fourth models like the iPhone mini and iPhone Plus.
The Air concept has already proven successful in Apple’s MacBook and iPad lines. Gurman notes that the iPhone 17 Air could pave the way for thinner iPhone Pros and future foldable devices.
Images shared by leaker Sonny Dickson on X show four iPhone 17 dummies side by side, illustrating their relative sizes. Dickson points out that the Air model is "unbelievably thin," making it the most visually striking among the new devices.
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max dummies feature SIM card trays, indicating that eSIM-only models will remain exclusive to the U.S. market. This suggests that the iPhone 17 series will continue to offer two versions: one for the U.S. and one for international markets.
Interestingly, the iPhone 17 Air and another model do not show any SIM card trays. This raises the possibility that the Air could be the first eSIM-only iPhone available outside the U.S.
All four models appear to include the Camera Control feature introduced with the iPhone 16 series, contradicting earlier reports that it might be absent from the Air.
The bottom edge of the iPhone 17 Air shows fewer speaker perforations compared to the other models. While the design is symmetrical, it could hint at less capable audio performance, possibly due to the device’s ultra-thin build.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max appears significantly thicker, supporting rumours that it will house a larger battery for extended life.
