Belkin BOOST CHARGE PRO 3-in-1 Wireless Charger Review: The Must-Have Accessory For Apple Users!

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

Apple products work best when they’re used in tandem with each other, and you’ll rarely see someone who’s using an iPhone, Android Watch and earbuds that aren’t AirPods. People who buy into Apple’s ecosystem tend to use everything Apple, and no wonder, since it’s so easy to pair and connect everything together without any sort of friction at all in the process.

With that though, it’s not the easiest to charge all the devices at once. Previously, you would need a cable for your iPhone, another cable for your AirPods and a proprietary charger for the Apple Watch. That’s three different power outlets needed, and it definitely takes up a lot of space. Now that the iPhone has MagSafe wireless charging, Belkin’s Boost Charge Pro 3-in-1 Wireless Charger actually comes in really handy.

You get a clean looking charging stand that comes in either white or black. Personally, white seems to match the aesthetic of Apple products more, so I’m preferential to it. There’s a metal T bar with two magnetic charging pads on either end, the left is for the iPhone and the right is for an Apple Watch.

Now, since the iPhone 12 series is the only series with MagSafe, they’re the only ones that actually work with this charger. If you’re holding onto an older iPhone, you’ll probably have to look elsewhere. The MagSafe compatibility is required to ensure that the phone is securely attached to the charging pad.

One nice thing about this feature is that you can continue using your phone in either portrait mode or even landscape mode when it’s charging. It’s actually quite reminiscent of how the iPad Pro “floats” in the air with the iPad Magic Keyboard.

On the right, you get the small charging puck for the Apple Watch, and it’s pretty simple. The only issue I can find with it is that the watch can swivel somewhat freely on the charging puck, but there’s really no way to stop that since it’s magnetic. The height of the T bar is pretty much perfect, the watch strap hovers just above the base. I am using the Small strap size though, so the M/L strap might just touch the base.

The base also has a wireless charging coil with a small indentation that ensures the AirPods Pro case sits snugly, and there’s a rubber texture on the base which means the case won’t slide around even if you move the charger.

Belkin and Apple have a pretty good relationship, thus resulting in some great accessories like this one. This is one of the few third-party chargers that can be purchased at physical Apple Stores as well as Apple’s online shop, the other brand being morphie. But the morphie chargers only get up to 7.5W charging speed, while the Belkin MagSafe chargers can get up to 15W, which means your iPhone will charge much quicker on those.

If you’re already going to splurge on a wireless charger, you’ll definitely want to get a MagSafe compatible one, either from Apple directly or from Belkin. Here’s why. Even 15W wireless charging isn’t all that fast when you compare it to Android brands that can do 40W wireless. A Huawei P40 Pro+ can charge from 0-100 via wireless charging in just around 90 minutes or so. The iPhone 12 charging with a MagSafe wireless charger, though, gained 6% battery in a 15-minute charge and that’s with a 15W charger. Imagine if you only have a 7.5W wireless charger. How long would you have to put your phone there to get a full charge?

Assuming you only have 15 minutes to charge your phone before you head out of the house, you’ll definitely want to reach for a wired charger instead because Apple’s wired charger allows for 20W wired charging, which isn’t the fastest either, but it definitely charges faster than MagSafe wireless. If you’re not in a rush and you just want to keep your iPhone topped up though, wireless chargers work perfectly fine.

And if you just want a sleek, really elegant solution that props your phone up and allows you to charge multiple devices at once? The Belkin 3-in-1 charger is a godsend. I leave my phone on it throughout the day because I can unlock my phone and read messages as they pop up without having to pick up and put down my phone. If I’m making a FaceTime call with someone, I don’t even have to hold my phone. It sits at a perfect angle while still getting charged.

Or maybe you want to watch videos on it? Turn your phone sideways and enjoy your Netflix drama, again, while still charging your phone. It’s a great little accessory to have on your desk, and being able to eliminate extra cables is always a good thing.

At S$209, it might seem pretty pricey, but when you compare it to Apple’s own offerings, it’s actually a steal. Apple’s MagSafe Duo Charger goes for S$199, and that can only charge two devices at once. Belkin also offers a solution for just two devices, and that’s going for just S$144, which is considerably more affordable than Apple’s while still propping your phone up at an angle so you have an easier time using it.

All in all, this is just a great charging accessory that anybody who’s using more than one Apple device should own. Before I tried this out, I thought to myself: “It’s a bit expensive for a wireless charger.”. Well, Belkin has made me eat my words. After using this wireless charger, I don’t think I can go back to a life without it and the convenience it provides anymore.

The Belkin Boost Charge 3-in-1 Wireless Charger with MagSafe (S$209) is available at Apple Stores, Apple Store Online, Challenger, Hachi.tech, Harvey Norman, iStudio and Belkin’s stores on Lazada and Shopee.
