Keep a BTS Member in Your Pocket With the TinyTan Tamagotchi Toy

Kyle Chua

If you're among the tens of millions of BTS fans, here's your chance to live with miniature versions of the K-pop idols. Bandai America is launching TinyTan Tamagotchi, a version of the handheld game featuring all seven members of the popular band, this October.

This new version essentially plays like previous versions of Tamagotchi, where you interact and take care of a virtual pet. But here, instead of a pet, you’ll be responsible for a member of BTS – or as Bandai put it, a TinyTan character who comes from the “Magic Door”.

Your job is to feed your miniature BTS members and play with them throughout the day by pressing buttons on the pocket-sized, egg-shaped device. Bandai touts that there are two mini-games included on the device.

The first game, dubbed Dynamite after the band’s hit song, has you press buttons as they appear on-screen to make your character perform dance moves. The second game, meanwhile, has you hit a button as a bowl is filled with custard for your character to eat. Your character’s hairstyle also changes depending on how much time you spend with them and how often you play the mini-games.

Your Tamagotchi will also make sounds once your character is hungry or wants to play. You’ll, of course, have to attend to them whenever they need you otherwise their stress gauge increases and they get sick. And if they stay sick long enough, they could go back through the “Magic Door”, leaving you forever.

The TinyTan Tamagotchi comes in two designs: purple, which is said to be inspired by the “Magic Door” and red, which is inspired by “MIC Drop”.

If this sounds interesting, the TinyTan Tamagotchi is now available at US$19.99, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long to finally live out your dreams of having your favourite BTS member right in your pocket.
