This move marks BYD's entry into a significant Asian market and sets the stage for competition with Hyundai on its home turf, as reported by Korea JoongAng Daily. Initially, BYD plans to establish 15 showrooms across the country in collaboration with six dealers, including DT Networks and China's Harmony Automobile. Chief Scientist Lian Yubo of BYD anticipates a 40% increase in sales this year, aiming to reach 4.25 million units.


In comparison, Hyundai has outlined a modest target of a 0.6% rise in annual global sales to 4.24 million units. Meanwhile, Hyundai's affiliate Kia is looking to sell 3.2 million units by 2024, according to Reuters
