CES 2024: MSI Unveils New AI-Ready Laptops, Gaming Handheld
MSI is all-in on artificial intelligence (AI), unveiling a range of laptops powered by the emerging tech at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
"We are excited to delve into AI, especially with how prevalent it is today," said Eric Kuo, Executive Vice President of MSI. "MSI strives to stay ahead of the curve, and with our new AI-powered laptops, we are further establishing ourselves as a brand heeding our customers’ needs."
The Taiwanese hardware maker announced its latest AI-powered laptops lineup, all equipped with an Intel Core Ultra processor. These processors feature a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) optimised for AI tasks and are built on the brand new Intel 4 process node.
Chief of which is the new Prestige AI series, highlighted by the Prestige 16 AI. Weighing only 1.5kg, the ultralight laptop combine high performance with lightweight portability, according to MSI. It houses a 99.9WHr battery for a remarkable 19hrs battery life. Alongside it is the Prestige 14 AI, which similarly features a lightweight and ultraportable design. It features a 90Whrs battery, the largest in the company's 14-inch class. There's also the Prestige 13 AI Evo, another ultralight variant at 990g, boasting 75WHrs battery, up to 50% larger in capacity compared to similar laptops. Both the Prestige 16 AI and Prestige 13 AI Evo incorporate 16:10 aspect ratio displays.
MSI has also refreshed its content creation line of laptops with the new Creator Z17 HX Studio, Creator 16 AI Studio, Creator M14 and Creator M16 HX. Leading the pack is the Creator Z17 HX Studio, which features vapour chamber cooler thermal design. The Creator 16 AI Studio features a vibrant 16:10 aspect ratio display, ensuring creators can enjoy a top-notch visual experience. Meanwhile, the Creator M14 and Creator M16 HX provide creators with a wider selection, catering to diverse preferences and requirements in the content creation space.
For gaming, MSI debuted the its newly designed 18-inch gaming laptop family, consisting of the Titan 18 HX, the Raider 18 HX and the Stealth 18 AI Studio. Both the Titan 18 HX and Raider 18 HX are equipped with Intel 14th gen Core i9 processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptop GPUs, while the Stealth 18 AI Studio is equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra processors. What's more, the Titan 18 HX features the biggest new vapour chamber cooler thermal solution in the market and supports MSI OverBoost Ultra, delivering up to 270W total power, while the Raider 18 HX provides 250W full total power. All three sport 4K 120Hz mini LED displays, delivering high resolution visuals, DisplayHDR 1000 and a wide colour gamut coverage.
MSI's new Vector 16/17 HX, Crosshair 16/17 HX, and Pulse 16/17 AI all tout un-compromised gaming performance as well.
For those on a tighter budget, however, there's the Sword 16/17 HX, the Cyborg 15 AI, the Cyborg 14 and the Thin 15. These are gaming laptops that gears towards mainstream gamers who don't mind not having the most optimised performance or all the latest bells and whistles.
Finally, MSI announced the Claw, a handheld gaming PC powered by Intel Core Ultra Processor. It's equipped with ARC graphics featuring up to 8 Xe cores and advanced XeSS tech, delivering smooth performance even in demanding AAA games. The device also features MSI's HyperFlow cooling system and a large 53Wh battery that can last about two hours. Other key features include a a 7-inch Full HD touchscreen display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and Windows 11 support.
