Delayed Delivery of Pre-Ordered Samsung Foldables Due to System Error and High Demand
If you pre-ordered a Samsung Z Fold3 or Z Flip3, then you might get it later than expected as Samsung has announced that high demand and a system error caused delays in the delivery of its latest foldables.
Customers who pre-ordered these handsets, which were announced on 11 August 2021, expected that they would receive their order from 2 September onwards. In Singapore, the products were officially launched on 10 September.
Some customers who ordered through Samsung's site were also told that they would get the devices on 2 September but did not. A number of these consumers were informed that their deliveries will be delayed by at least a week even though they fully paid for the pre-ordered phones.
The Z Fold3 is being sold from S$2,398 to S$2,548. Meanwhile, the Z Flip3 can be purchased from S$1,398 to S$1,498.
Several customers noticed that people who ordered the devices from other retailers did not face similar problems. StarHub, Lazada and Shopee Singapore did not seem to have as many issues with fulfilling customers' pre-orders.
Customers also wondered why some people who experienced delivery delays were given extended Samsung Care+ warranty service as compensation while others weren't.
Samsung explained that a system error led to the pushback of delivery dates and that only a group of customers who received a prematurely sent email about their delivery will be offered the Care+ service.
"Unfortunately, a system error occurred with a group of customers who received an e-mail notification prematurely that their pre-ordered device would be available for collection on Sept 2," said Samsung.
The phonemaker assured customers that it is doing its best to deliver the phones.
"We are working hard to ensure that all pre-orders are fulfilled as soon as we can."
The company added that it is reviewing its systems to avoid such an incident from happening again and that it will provide updates on the expected availability date for pre-orders.
Samsung Singapore announced on 3 September that the Z Fold3 had sold out and that the Z Flip3 was flying off the shelves.
Meanwhile, Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency said that an estimated 800,000 Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 phones were ordered in South Korea.
