Did a K-Pop Group Just Reveal a Foldable iPhone?
Apple is perhaps the last major smartphone maker that's been holding out on releasing a foldable smartphone.
The Cupertino, California tech giant doesn't appear too keen to join the foldable race among its competitors in the industry – or at least not yet. A new music video, however, has the internet speculating that a foldable iPhone isn't too far off now.
South Korean girl group NewJeans collaborated with Apple on a music video for their new single "ETA", shooting all the footage on an iPhone 14 Pro. What's interesting about the music video is that it features a specific scene that looks like it was shot on a foldable smartphone.
The scene in question happens between the 1:55 to 2:07 mark of the music video. It has the members of the K-pop group using an iPhone to record themselves, but the way they held the device gives the impression that it features a
flip-style form factor, with the front-facing camera on the upright panel and the lower half being visible in the shot.
While the scene could have indeed been shot on a foldable iPhone, it's not likely the case, with one Reddit user stressing that Apple won't unveil a long-rumoured device in such an unceremonious manner. Another user, meanwhile, explains that the scene was probably shot using two cameras to create the effect.
So, to answer the question posed in the headline, no, a K-pop group didn't just reveal a foldable iPhone.
Apple fans can instead look forward to the iPhone 15, which, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, features slimmer bezels and charging ports. The iPhone 15's borders are said to be shrinking from 2.2 millimetres to 1.5 millimetres thanks to low-injection pressure over-moulding (LIPO) tech. Meanwhile, the lightning charging port is being replaced with a USB-C port.
There are also rumours that Apple could release an iPhone Ultra, which would be a higher-end option over the Pro Max.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 sometime in September, as it does every year.

The idea was dismissed by internet users who explain that the scene was likely shot using two separate cameras, instead of a single one on a flip-style iPhone.
