During a video call at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Musk, who founded xAI as a competitor to Microsoft-backed OpenAI and Google, shared his enthusiasm for Grok 3's advanced reasoning abilities. He highlighted the impressive progress made by Grok 3, hinting at its potential to revolutionise the AI landscape.
Recently, Musk and a group of investors made headlines by offering $97.4 billion to acquire the assets of OpenAI, a move that underscores Musk's commitment to advancing AI technology. OpenAI, known for its pursuit of cutting-edge AI models, has expressed its intention to transition into a for-profit entity to secure necessary funding for its projects.
However, Musk has raised concerns about OpenAI's shift towards a for-profit model, filing a lawsuit to block the transition. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a balance between profit and non-profit roles within organisations like OpenAI, cautioning against drastic changes that could impact the AI industry.
In a bold statement, Musk proposed significant reductions in government spending, suggesting that the US economy could experience substantial growth while curbing expenditure. He outlined a vision where government spending could be slashed by $1 trillion or more, potentially leading to a period of stable inflation from 2025 to 2026.
During the conference, UAE AI Minister Omar Al Olama and Musk discussed a potential collaboration on the "Dubai Loop", a high-speed underground transport system likened to a wormhole. While details were scarce, the partnership hints at innovative transportation solutions in the region.
Addressing international relations, Musk advocated for non-interference in other countries' affairs, urging the United States to adopt a more hands-off approach. He emphasised the importance of respecting the sovereignty of nations and refraining from interventionist policies, particularly in the Middle East.
