CES 2021: Kickstart Your Engines With Acer Nitro And Gobble Your Prey With Predator Triton & He

With AMD and NVIDIA announcing their latest range of products to kickstart the year, Acer is, of course, taking the opportunity to refresh several of their gaming laptops, like the ever-popular Nitro 5 and their higher-end gaming series with the Predator Triton and Helios.

Acer Nitro 5

If you are a budget-conscious gamer, but still want to be able to experience the latest AAA titles at a solid 60 frames per second, the Nitro series from Acer has always been a favourite among many. Here at CES 2021, it is getting a huge upgrade.

Design-wise, the new Nitro 5 still looks largely similar though slightly revamped for a newer and cleaner look. But the main difference is that the new Nitro 5 will now be able to be configured with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX for the CPU and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 for the GPU, up to 32GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM and support up to 4TB of SSD storage. The new Nitro 5 laptops will also be available in two different sizes, 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch. Both models can be fitted with a choice of either a QHD (2560 x 1440) IPS panel or an FHD (1920 x 1080) panel.

The QHD IPS panel will have a 165Hz refresh rate with a 3ms response time, cover 100% sRGB and can reach a max brightness of about 300 nits while the FHD IPS panel will have the option for a 360Hz refresh rate, cover 100% sRGB and get up to 300 nits in brightness.

The 15-inch Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-56) will be available in EMEA in March starting at €999, and in China in June, starting at RMB 5,999.

The 17-inch Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-53) will be available in EMEA in March starting at €999, and in China at a starting price of at RMB 6,499.

Acer Predator Triton 300 SE

If you are looking for something more portable yet retaining most of the performance, look no further. The new Predator Triton 300 SE features a slightly revamped chassis that looks really minimalistic, comes in at just 17.9mm thin and weighs roughly 1.7kg. Despite that, it will come equipped with up to an 11th-Gen Intel Core i7 H35-Series Special Edition CPU that can reach up to 5GHz, and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 for the GPU.

Despite the thin and light chassis, the Predator Triton 300 SE will be able to handle the high-performance parts thanks to the dual-fan cooling system which includes the latest 5th generation AeroBlade Fan and Acer’s Vortex Flow Technology to which Acer claims have resulted in a 10% performance increase over the previous generation.

You do of course get a 14-inch IPS display which sports an FHD (1920 x 1080) panel running at 144Hz. Other features include up to 10 hours of battery life, a backlit 3-zone RGB keyboard, DTS:X Ultra audio and Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650.

The Predator Triton 300 SE (PT314-51s) will be available in North America in March starting at US$1,399.99, and in EMEA in February starting at €1,499.

Acer Predator Helios 300

If you are looking for an even more premium gaming experience, this is it.

The Predator Helios 300 does not bring anything too fancy to the table, but it does get a well-deserved refresh.

While the laptop will feature the same 10th-Gen Intel Core H-Series processors, the graphics department gets a boost and it can now be configured with up to the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. It can be kitted with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and will still feature the same, but equally great, FHD (1920 x1080) IPS panel running at 240Hz with a 3ms response time.

The Predator Helios 300 (PH315-53) will be available in North America in February starting at US$1,249.99; in EMEA in February starting at €1,499; and in China in February, starting at RMB 9,999.
