CES 2021, as always, cooked up a storm in the tech world with a lot of technological innovations that were timely designed to combat or adapt to the ongoing pandemic, make life better in general, and even boggled the minds of audiences.
Here are five exciting devices showcased at the event that we definitely want to see sooner rather than later!
1. FinaLace – Smart Binaural Bluetooth headphones
FinaLace – a nifty Bluetooth headphones designed to bring musicians’ and content creators’ studios anywhere on-the-go – was announced during CES 2021.
It has two microphones embedded in the earbuds which provide clear immersive audio and a third microphone nearest to the mouth exclusively used for voice pick-up. It additionally has noise suppression and automatic transcription of both calls and live audio such as talking and singing through its companion app.
The companion app allows users to tune its pickup and playback settings, and artists will appreciate the FinaLace’s ability to monitor settings that allows them to instantly mix their own voice, audio track, and monitor volume.
Sabinetek, a Beijing-based smart-audio company which received multiple CES awards since 2017, announced in CES 2021 that FinaLace will launch this January 2021. Their Kickstarter page listed the FinaLace with a retail price tag of US$199 but those who took the Super Early Bird option can enjoy a discounted price of US$79.
2. Impulse Neural Controller

“React before the competition.”: The slogan Brink Bionics brought up when it announced a new way of playing video games during CES 2021.
The Impulse Neural Controller allows gamers to make split-second reactions through their body’s electromagnetic impulses. It is a gaming glove fitted with sensors that can detect electromagnetic impulses your body creates to move your fingers.
Users wearing the Impulse while gaming have been noted to have faster reactions than those just using a computer mouse.
The faster reaction time is due to Impulse working with your hand to send inputs. The Impulse’s sensors send inputs to the computer at 80 milliseconds, while a user’s hand needs 180 milliseconds to move your finger to click the mouse.
You don’t even have to hold the mouse to use Impulse. A simple move from your fingers and the Impulse will read that and input it to the computer.
You can still hold and use your mouse while wearing the Impulse, but the computer will take Impulse’s input first rather than the mouse.
This gaming peripheral is ideal for First Person Shooter games, MMORPGs and action games where a split-second reaction can make or break your game.
Brink Bionics did not disclose when the Impulse Neuro Controller will be available for purchase, as it is still gathering support in their Kickstarter campaign. However, Brink Bionics have detailed the following prices for each package:
VIP
Package – USD$123
Early Bird Package – USD$123
Kickstarter exclusive package – USD$131
The Gamer Pack – USD$158

Yes, you read that right.
Smart. Perfume.
NINU has developed a perfume that, when calibrated through a phone app, can deliver a scent tailored to the user’s needs and preferences.
This smart perfume is the first in the world (patent pending according to its press release) and was inspired by Peter Florjančič, the greatest innovator in perfume history.
The device houses three cartridges which hold three foundational categories of scents. These are dispensed in varying quantities producing different scents that cater to their user’s liking.
The companion app, currently only available on iOS, has an AI perfume master named Pierre who suggests perfume mixes when users have made selections based on their taste. It will also notify the user if the cartridges need replacing.
NINU boasted that their perfume, designed from start to end in France, is 100% vegan and made of sustainably sourced ingredients. Additionally, everything that went into the construction of the device and its perfumes are eco-friendly.
NINU has yet to disclose when this product will be coming to market.

5. LUFT Duo

A portable air purifier can wipe out COVID-19 particles in just one hour.
LUFTQI, a Taiwanese consumer electronic brand, debuted the LUFT Duo, the new and improved version of its predecessors, the LUFT QI 1.0 and LUFT Cube 2.0.
One advantage the LUFT Duo has is that there’s no need for expensive filter replacements as the filter is washable and replaceable, and is capable of decomposing pollutants too small for High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters.
The LUFT Duo is noted to be quieter than its forerunners while still catering to the needs of people with asthma, allergies, and those who are vulnerable to COVID-19.
According to LUFTQI’s press release, researchers from a host of third-party research labs including an Anti-Coronaviral Viral Activity Test at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan have deemed that COVID-19 cannot survive for more than one hour when near a LUFT Duo’s purified air.
LUFTQI also claims that the LUFT Duo is capable of purifying the air in a 240-square foot space, meaning a single unit is enough for an entire home. That being said though, the main selling point is the LUFT Duo’s portability, and we might just see this popping up in the back of private hire cars and such in the future.
The air purifier has already sold 20,000 units in Taiwan, US, Japan, and South Korea. It can be purchased in the US and the UK through LUFT Duo’s IndieGoGo page with a price tag of US$149.
