Google Pixel 8 Pro Camera Review

Updated: May 23

Google Pixel phones have always been renowned for their seamless integration of hardware and software, taking the camera experience to the next level. The Pixel 8 Pro continues this tradition with its full array of 48 MP sensors, addressing previous complaints and improving consistency in photo quality.

Google Pixel 8 Camera

One of the standout features of the Pixel 8 Pro is its ability to deliver fantastic photos with improved consistency across various camera lenses. Whether you're capturing wide-angle shots or zooming in for detailed close-ups, the Pixel 8 Pro serves as a reliable point-and-shoot companion.

Image Quality Of Pixel 8 Pro

The software processing on the Pixel 8 Pro further enhances photo balance, although some users may find the images slightly computer-generated if viewed on computer monitor or zoomed in. However, for those seeking more control, the option to shoot in Raw format is available.

Unblur, Dyanamic, Enhance

The camera app on the Pixel 8 Pro has undergone significant changes, integrating manual controls seamlessly. This provides users with a more intuitive and customisable photography experience. In addition to manual controls, the Pixel 8 Pro offers AI photo modes such as Face Unblur and motion modes, adding a touch of fun and creativity to your photography endeavours.

Magic Editor

A notable addition to the Pixel 8 Pro is the Magic Editor, which utilises regenerative AI to allow users to highlight, move, or resize subjects within a photo. This innovative feature enhances scene building and adds a unique touch to your compositions.

When it comes to video performance, the Pixel 8 Pro has made significant improvements, addressing previous concerns. Enhanced white balancing and stabilisation contribute to smoother and more professional-looking videos.

The Pixel 8 Pro's Video Boost feature applies computational processing to videos, resulting in improved low-light performance. While it may not surpass the video capabilities of the iPhone 15 Pro, the Pixel 8 Pro holds its ground and effectively tackles low-light scenarios. In terms of low-light photography, the Pixel 8 Pro excels by capturing ample light, producing impressive results. During our testing, we did encounter some flaring issues in low-light with the Pixel 8 Pro, which were not as prevalent in the Pixel 6 Pro. This could potentially be attributed to the glass or coatings used on the lenses.

Overall, the Google Pixel 8 Pro offers excellent value for money, especially when compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It showcases impressive performance and has one of the best camera performance for a mobile phone, making it a compelling choice for photography enthusiasts on the go.
