The search engine giant posted a teaser on YouTube, unveiling its soon-to-be-launched flagship handsets, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The short clip puts the two's designs on full display, highlighting the Rose and Porcelain colourways that they'll launch in. It also reveals that pre-orders for both models start on the same day they're announced on 4 October 2023.

When it comes to the handsets' features and specs, however, there's barely any official information yet, with the teaser focusing mainly on the designs. But a since-removed 360-degree Pixel 8 Pro simulator posted by Google itself seemingly confirmed previous rumours about the higher-end model including a temperature sensor and physical SIM slot.

The simulator was supposedly leaked intentionally by Google earlier in the week in an attempt to undermine Apple's own promotions of its iPhone 15 launch event next week. The Pixel maker also "leaked" an image that shows a person holding a Porcelain-coloured Pixel 8 Pro against his ear on the same day Apple sent out invites to its event.

According to other leaks online, the Pixel 8 Pro could come equipped with a 50MP main sensor that lets in up to 50% more light than the main sensor on last year's Pixel 7 Pro and a 64MP ultra-wide sensor manufactured by Sony. It's also expected to house a 5,000mAh battery that supports a max charging speed of 27W.

Alongside the teaser, Google posted a new Google Store landing page showing Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro as well as the Pixel Watch 2.

Apple, meanwhile, is set to announce the iPhone 15 on 12 September 2023. The new handsets could be the first generation to usher in the shift from Lightning to USB-C connectivity. Other rumoured features include a new, more capable chipset and camera upgrades.
