Huawei Establishes Commodities Hedging Team in Singapore and Hong Kong

In a move to manage its exposure to raw materials, Chinese technology company Huawei Technologies has set up a commodities team in Singapore and Hong Kong.

The team will be responsible for hedging and trading metals and energy products. Job postings on LinkedIn revealed that Huawei was seeking a commodity trader, a commodity market analyst, a metals hedging specialist and a metals research specialist.


The team will collaborate closely with Huawei's teams in China and Hong Kong to enhance its capabilities in metals hedging, research and risk control. The focus will be on ferrous metals, nonferrous metals and battery metals. Currently, the team consists of five members and it is expected to expand with the addition of up to four more staff members.


The goal of the team is to hedge Huawei's exposure to raw materials in base metals, ferrous metals, energy and lithium products. The team is currently working on drafting hedging proposals and trading plans.

Huawei has not provided any comments regarding its commodities team hirings or future hiring plans.
