Infinix Unveils Solar-Powered and Customisable Concept Phones at MWC 2025
Infinix showcased two innovative concept phones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 Showstoppers event. One features a built-in solar panel for charging, while the other offers a customisable back panel using artificial intelligence.

The solar-powered concept phone utilises Infinix’s SolarEnergy-Reserving technology, which incorporates perovskite solar cells. These cells are thinner and more affordable to produce than traditional silicon-based alternatives. A Maximum Power Point Tracking system helps regulate voltage to manage heat while optimising power efficiency.
The device charges at 2 watts, which is slow by 2025 standards. Instead of continuously charging in sunlight, the built-in solar panel stores energy and releases it when needed. Infinix also introduced a phone case with an integrated solar panel that can charge a device.
The second concept phone features Infinix’s next-generation E-Color Shift Technology. Unlike its predecessor, which changed colour when plugged in, this version allows users to customise the back panel with patterns, colours, and images using internal battery power.
Infinix demonstrated an app that enables users to modify the phone’s appearance. The changes take a few seconds to register, and users can extract colours from photos or set the panel to change based on the weather.
There is no confirmation on whether Infinix will release either concept for consumers. However, the combination of a solar-powered charging case with a customisable back panel could offer both practicality and personalisation in future smartphones.
