Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air may feature a significant performance boost, with 12GB of RAM expected for the first time in a non-Pro model, according to a new leak.

Respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TFI Securities revealed in an April 24 blog post that Apple plans to include 12GB of DRAM in the iPhone 17 Air, alongside the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models.
The iPhone 17 Air, described as an “ultra-thin” model, is expected to launch in the second half of 2025. While the name is not confirmed, the model has been widely referred to as the iPhone 17 Air.
Until now, 12GB of RAM has been exclusive to Pro models. The inclusion of this memory capacity in a non-Pro device suggests a shift in Apple’s strategy, potentially offering high-end performance in a sleeker design.
Kuo also noted that Apple is considering equipping the base iPhone 17 with 12GB of RAM. However, he cautioned that supply shortages could affect the final decision, which is expected by May.
Looking ahead, Kuo reported that all iPhone 18 models, expected in 2026, are projected to feature 12GB of RAM.
He attributed the upgrade to growing competition in the smartphone market.
