Singapore Stadium Now Features A Telemedicine Kiosk
Updated: Dec 18, 2023
Need to consult a doctor or purchase meds? There's a new location to access automated healthcare in Singapore.
Health and human services startups SmartRx Pte. Ltd and Ninkatec Pte Ltd have partnered to integrate a convenient solution for your healthcare needs in Jalan Besar Stadium. That solution comes in the form of a Charazoi Telemedicine Kiosk, that aims to provide easy and accessible healthcare to those in the stadium and its surrounding community.
"Jalan Besar is situated in a community comprising of a mix of people who can benefit from convenient quality healthcare," explained Mr Tong Ping Heng, Managing Director at SmartRx. "Whether it is simply buying Over-The-Counter (OTC) Medicine, obtaining pharmacy medicine or the need to consult a doctor, members of the community can be served at this conveniently located kiosk.”
The Charazoi Telemedicine Kiosk reportedly serves as an all-in-one solution for all healthcare needs, comprising of an Automatic Pharmacy Machine (APMs) and a Telemedicine Pod (TP). It provides round-the-clock access to OTC medicine, as well as access to doctors from the Charazoi Medical Clinic through teleconsultation.
To consult a doctor at the kiosk, you first have to either register or log into the APM's system using your Identification Card (IC) Number and selected PIN. After which, you'll have to pay the rate of S$27 to unlock the TP, where you then input your IC and PIN via the Pod's integrated touchscreen. Teleconsultations are available on weekdays from 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm, which follows the opening hours of Charazoi Medical Clinic, located five minutes away from the kiosk.
The TP, as previously mentioned, features a touchscreen, as well as a microphone and speakers, allowing you to communicate clearly with your doctor. There are also various vital sign devices to monitor health data your doctor might need, including temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, along with height and weight. After your consultation, you can exit the Pod and log back into the APM to pay for the medication prescribed by your doctor. Doing so would prompt the machine to automatically dispense the medicine with individual labelling specified for your consumption, similar to traditional clinics.
Apart from the convenience, the advantage of using the kiosk is the lower teleconsultation rate of S$27 compared to the S$40 for an in-person consultation at the clinic.
All categories of drugs are available at the kiosk, including OTC Medicine, Pharmacy Medicine and Prescription Only Medicine.
"With the vast selection of medication dispensed at the Kiosk, we are confident that the community can take the initiative for their healthcare needs with even more convenience," said Dr Choo Dee Pheng of Charazoi Medical Clinic. "Not only will teleconsultation through the kiosk reduce waiting time at the physical clinic, timely assistance can be administered onsite if required due to the kiosk’s close proximity to our physical clinic."
Jalan Besar Stadium is reportedly an ideal location for the kiosk due to it being situated within a community that comprises of a residential zone, a food and beverage scene, hotels and offices. It only takes those residing within the community between four to eight minutes to access the kiosk for their healthcare needs.
The new kiosk is also only the first of four that SmartRx plans to roll out with SportSG over the next six months. "Sporting facilities are located within the heartlands and are readily accessible for all in the community," said Mr Tong.
