Apple has decided to expand its Independent Repair Provider program to more than 200 countries, including Singapore. The program, which was first launched in 2019, enables repair providers of all sizes to have access to legitimate Apple device parts, tools, repair manuals and diagnostics to offer safe and reliable Apple product repairs.

All of the program’s participating repair providers will be given access to free training from Apple and the same genuine parts, tools, repair manuals and diagnostics as Apple Authorised Service Providers (AASPs) and Apple Store locations. Scott Baker, the owner of Mister Mac in Wimberley, Texas, USA, noted that Apple has provided great support since the day he joined. He also shared that due to Apple’s support, he was able to give his customers “that same level of service”.

Another participant, Nils Weber, project manager for Pro Repair GmbH in Germany, shared that his participation has been a “very positive experience” for his business and his customers. “During COVID-19, reliable access to parts has allowed us to adapt our business to accommodate the sudden high demand for mail-in repairs from our customers,” he said.

To qualify for this free program, repair providers will need to commit to have an Apple-certified technician to perform the repairs. The process for certification is simple and free of charge.

Beginning later this week, interested repair providers in some counties in the Middle East, Australia and Oceania, South America and Southeast Asia (which includes Singapore) can learn more and apply to become an Independent Repair Provider at the program’s website. Meanwhile, repair providers in some countries in Africa, Central Asia, Europe, South America, the Caribbean and North America will have to wait until later this year to be able to apply for the program.

You may check if your country is in the list at Apple’s official announcement.
