The Huawei P50 images have recently been leaked online.
According to a GSMArena report and phone renders from tech reporter Waqar Khan, the Huawei P50 main camera module has four cameras inside the two large circles, including the standard wide-angle camera, an ultra-wide and a non-periscope telephoto. Huawei P50 Pro will have the same camera types as the P50, but with the sole difference of P50 Pro having a periscope telephoto camera. Huawei P50 Pro+ is expected to have the same camera types as the P50 Pro but with an additional 3D ToF camera.
The renders seem to be based on the leaked design patent which Huawei submitted to the European Union Intellectual Property Office on 15 October 2020 according to a report from Huawei Central.
Some Weibo users have leaked certain specifications of the P50 and its variants. One user revealed that the phone might be equipped with either the Sony IMX700 or IMX800 camera sensor. Another Weibo user by the name of Courage Digital King mentioned that the phone will be powered by the Kirin 9000 processor, the same chipset used on the Huawei Mate 40.
It is also speculated that the new P50 will be equipped with the Kirin 9000E processor while the P50 Pro uses the Kirin 9000 as its processor.
The Huawei P50 is expected to be available in various colours: black, white, blue and orange and it might sport a 6.3-inch flat display while the P50 Pro will receive a much larger 6.6-inch display.
Steve Hemmerstoffer from Voice’s Creator Incubator program shared that the display will also have slightly curved edges and extremely thin bezels, mirroring its predecessor, the Huawei P30. Hemmerstoffer also added that the P50 Pro will have an under-display fingerprint sensor and dual speakers in the phone’s top and bottom frame.
Huawei might ship the P50 and its two other variants with its new original operating system, the HarmonyOS, according to a report from GSMArena which cited a now-deleted Weibo Account and Android Headline.
Huawei might not release the phone anytime soon due to chip shortages and the many sanctions the US government gave to the company under the orders of former President Donald Trump. However, speculators expect that the phone will be released no later than June 2021 at most.
The Huawei P50 and its other variants’ prices are still unknown.
