Microsoft Launches New Surface Products and Announces Dual-Screen Devices For 2020

The Surface products from Microsoft have always straddled the line between tablets and laptops and consumers really do get the best of both worlds. Now Microsoft has announced the new Surface Laptop 3, Surface Pro 7 and the Surface Pro X, all available for preorder.

The Surface Laptop 3 comes in a 13.5″ or a 15″ form factor, packs the latest Intel 10th Gen processors and the AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processors respectively and has fast charging that brings the laptop from 0 to 80% in an hour.

The Surface Pro 7 also uses Intel 10th Gen processors and has fast charging, but is ultra-light, with the weight starting from 775g.

But the Surface Pro X is the one that stands out. It has a 13″ display, but is just 7.3mm thin and you still get an estimated 13 hours of battery life, which is very decent. It uses the Microsoft SQ1 processor and Adreno 685 iGPU, with a minimum of 8GB RAM and 128GB of SSD storage.

Microsoft has also launched their Surface Earbuds, which do seem promising and integrates with Office 365 to let users access their Outlook calendar and email with their voice. It has a total battery life of 24 hours, with 8 hours in the buds and two additional 8-hour charges in the case, which is quite decent.

Windows Phones are also back! Microsoft is launching the Surface Duo phone in 2020, which is a dual display phone. It’s not a foldable display like the Samsung Galaxy Fold, because the phone uses two separate screens with hinges that allow for it to be folded back on itself.

The screens work independently of each other, but you’re able to use it as a big combined display if unfolded. There isn’t much other information on it as of yet, but we’re super excited for this as it appears to possibly be more durable than other folding phones that we’ve seen so far.

Building on the dual screen hype that many other laptops are trying to get on right now, Microsoft has their own Surface Neo. It’s essentially a scaled up version of the Surface Duo, but runs on Windows 10X, which is a variation of Windows 10 that’s designed for dual display PCs.

Two 9″ screens are connected by a 360-degree hinge that allows it to unfold to become a proper 13″ screen. Windows 10X is a work in progress, but we’re definitely waiting eagerly to see what Microsoft is able to do with this.
