With the Pokemon Sword & Shield games breaking records on sales charts (9 consecutive weeks on top of sales charts in Japan), fans will be super pumped for Netflix’s new Pokemon Movie, Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back — Evolution, launching on 27 February 2020.

The trailer is available now and it’s essentially a CGI remake of the first movie released in 1999. Pokémon fans in Japan will have already had the chance to watch Mewtwo Strikes Back — Evolution in 2019, but this is the first time overseas audiences will be able to watch it in their home countries.

But that’s not all that Netflix is bringing in February. Studio Ghibli’s first-ever streaming deal brings 21 of their movies to Netflix subscribers, including the popular My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away and more. The movies will be available for streaming on Netflix from 1 February 2020 onwards. Unfortunately, US, Canada and Japan Netflix subscribers won’t be able to stream the movies.

And finally, something that I personally am very excited for, dystopian sci-fi drama series Altered Carbon is finally coming back with season 2 on 27th February 2020 as well. Instead of the main lead being played by Joel Kinnaman, Anthony Mackie will be taking over.

Thanks to the resleeving mechanic introduced in the show where people can transfer their consciousness and memories between bodies, cast changes are easily explained away although I think it does result in a slight sense of loss since you spend a whole season getting attached to an actor and they’ll possibly be changed out the next.

In any case, I’m just glad to be getting more Altered Carbon action.
