Sony WF-1000XM4 Leak: Here’s What To Expect When It Hits Store Shelves

The Sony WF-1000XM4 earphones are the successor to one of our favourite true wireless earbuds, and they might be hitting store shelves soon if a recent leak is to be believed.

A report from WinFuture, a Dutch tech website, detailed that Sony’s new wireless in-ear earphones will be for sale in Europe soon, along with other details regarding the earphones’ features. The leak, however, did not mention a specific date on when the earphones will be available for purchase.


The most interesting feature that these earphones are that they are reported to be able to last up to eight hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) enabled – two hours more than the previous model. The carrying case, meanwhile, are rumoured to be able to fully charge the headphones twice. This makes the earphones capable of running for a total of 24 hours with ANC enabled.


Speaking of ANC, the leak mentioned that the ANC on the WF-1000XM4 will be even more effective due to the “Sony V1”, a custom processor chip that not only offers better ANC performance but also LDAC and Hi-Res audio support too.


As for the earphones’ other features, the leak mentioned that the earphones will have IPX4 certification, meaning that they are water resistant to an extent and can be used in light rain showers or during sports activities that involve high levels of perspiration.

The carrying case will feature Qi wireless charging, meaning you can charge the case using your phone if it supports reverse wireless charging. The carrying case also comes with a USB-C port for regular wired charging.


Last but not least, the headphones will feature “Precise Voice Pickup” technology that will reportedly offer optimal voice quality and the ability to adjust various settings via Sony’s Headphones Connect app.


The Sony WF-1000XM4 TWS will reportedly retail at around €279.90, according to WinFuture. However, the price might fluctuate slightly depending on the country it’s being sold in and relevant taxes.
