Canon’s new full-frame mirrorless cameras were announced to great fanfare earlier in July, but with reviews and tests being done, it seems there are huge thermal performance issues with the two cameras. Granted, Canon themselves did mention that the cameras are limited by the thermals when shooting 8K or oversampled 4K videos, but tests from DPReview have actually shown that the cameras heat up from any sort of usage, even setting up still shots, thus cutting into the amount of time you’ll have for video recording.
A user on the Canon Rumours website even mentioned that his R5 shut down after just taking still photos at a motocross event, without even shooting any video. Hopefully, Canon comes out with a solution, but for now, there have been interesting suggestions involving thermal pads and external fans!

Whatsapp users will know that due to the fact that WhatsApp is linked to your phone number, it is only possible to use the app on one device at a time. This usually means using Whatsapp’s web or desktop version to chat is possible only if one activates Whatsapp with your phone.
The option to run Whatsapp on more than one device might be available soon, with rumours the feature is currently undergoing development, and it might soon be possible to use the same WhatsApp account on up to four devices.
Apple has removed 29,800 apps from its Chinese app store, including more than 26,000 games. Games affected by the sweep included titles from Zynga and Supercell. This takedown comes amid a crackdown on unlicensed games by Chinese authorities.
Earlier this year, Apple gave game publishers an end-of-June deadline to submit a government-issued licence number enabling users to make in-app purchases. The approval process for games looking to enable in-app purchases is long and complicated, hurting all but the largest game developers.
Snapchat’s new feature allows users to add music to the videos they record, making it the latest social app to take on TikTok by offering the ability to embed popular songs. The new feature is designed in such a way that when one swipes up on a video, the song’s title and artist will appear, plus a link to listen to the track on your streaming platform of choice.
The feature is launching with “a robust and curated catalogue of music” from Warner Music Group, Universal Music Publishing Group, Merlin, and more. Snapchat announced that this new feature would first launch to English-language users, rolling out first in New Zealand and Australia.
With President Donald Trump’s executive order to ban TikTok if it’s not owned by a US-based company by 15 September, Microsoft has publicly announced that they’re in talks with parent company ByteDance to acquire and operate TikTok in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
If the deal goes through, American users will most likely still be able to use the popular app in their home country. Otherwise, though, TikTok might have to say goodbye to their estimated 80 million monthly active users in the US.
