Olympus has decided to sell off part of its camera business. The company mentioned that the “extremely severe digital camera market” was no longer profitable and the arrival of smartphones diminished the market for cameras. Olympus has recorded losses for the past 3 years.
Between 2010 and 2018, there was an estimated 84% drop in the market for standalone cameras. Olympus is now seeking to carve off the camera part of its business so that its brands like Zuiko lenses can be used in new products by other firms.
Singapore wants more seniors to go online. So for as little as $5 a month, Singapore’s senior citizens can sign up for 5GB of data starting this July.
The Infocomm Media Development Authority said that basic smartphones starting at S$20 will be packaged with the mobile plans under the Mobile Access for Seniors scheme.
The plans will be offered by Singtel, StarHub, M1 and TPG Telecom. To qualify, seniors have to be aged 60 and older and receive Comcare assistance or live in HDB Public Rental Scheme housing.
Eligible seniors can register their interest for the mobile plans with Seniors Go Digital digital ambassadors after they have attended digital literacy programmes and acquired at least one basic digital skill, such as learning how to use messaging apps like WhatsApp or scan QR codes.

The form factor of the new 20W power adapter is said to be similar to the 18W version, with USB-C Power Delivery for fast charging.
