At Oppo’s OPPO INNO DAY 2020, the Chinese brand unveiled some new concept products, with the Oppo X 2021 rollable concept phone highlighting three proprietary technologies that Oppo is developing: a Roll Motor powertrain, 2-in-1 Plate and Warp Track high-strength screen laminate.

These result in a variable OLED screen that can be as small as 6.7-inches or as big as 7.4-inches.

The other highlight is Oppo’s AR Glass 2021 concept, which is 75% lighter than its predecessor. With weight and bulkiness being one of the main factors hindering the adoption of AR wearables, this is definitely a good sign as to what’s to come in this segment.

Oppo also showed off their CybeReal AR application, powered by real-time spatial calculation technology and enabling localisation and scene recognition with even higher accuracy.

These are all concepts though so we might not even get to see them in 2021, but we definitely have our fingers crossed.

iPhone 12 users complain about not receiving text messages sent from Android phones

Apple’s newest and latest iPhone 12 series have been pretty well received, but it’s not without its hiccups either. Quite a number of users have been noticing that their new iPhone 12 series phones don’t display notifications when messages are received, and in some cases, messages from Android phone users are completely missing and not received by the iPhone.

Thankfully, Apple has swiftly released an update, iOS 14.2.1, which addresses the missing MMS messages. At this point in time, it seems that the update still hasn’t fixed the issue with missing notifications, but it’s good to know that Apple is quickly fixing problems that pop up with the new iPhones, so perhaps we might see another update once Apple has a solution for the missing notifications.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Fold now available for preorders

We first saw, touched and commented about Lenovo’s incredible foldable laptop, the X1 Fold, back in January 2020 when we saw it at CES, but it’s now launched globally and preorders are open.

Starting at S$3,759, this is not a cheap laptop by any means, and Lenovo knows that. According to the brand, this laptop is more targeted towards prosumers, businesses and early adopters, as it should be.

The idea of a foldable PC is still new, but Lenovo is placing plenty of faith in their product, with the laptop’s “hinge” said to be able to withstand at least 30,000 folds.

We managed to speak to the people at Lenovo, who mentioned that stock should be arriving in Singapore in December, for people who are interested in preordering. For customers in Singapore, preorders can be made at Lenovo’s flagship store in Funan.
