Updated: Aug 21, 2021

On 18 July 2021, a blogger on Weibo with the username 禿然熊猫 or Bald Panda shared that the Mi Pad 5 model with a Snapdragon 870 processor might be the first to be unveiled in the Mi Pad 5 Series. This is rumoured to have a 48MP camera and 67W quick wired charging.

Certification from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed this to be the Mi Pad 5 Pro, which will reportedly boast 5G connectivity, and an 11” display. The Mi Pad 5 Pro could also support a stylus that can sense 4096 levels of pressure.

A day earlier, another person on the Chinese social media app named Uncle Yiming leaked a promotional poster for the Mi Pad 5, which features the device with thin bezels at its sides, rounded edges and a rectangular back camera. The picture showed that the gadget might have a Snapdragon 860 SoC and a 120Hz refresh rate.

With a rumoured 2K display, it will either have a 2048 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. By the looks of it, the tablet could allow users to enjoy a dual rear camera setup accompanied by an LED flash. The Mi Pad 5 appears to have a USB Type-C port and two speaker or microphone grills.

Bald Panda added that the device may host a 12MP camera and support 22.5W charging, paling in comparison to the prospective Mi Pad 5 Pro specs.

Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station hinted that there could be a wifi-only device with a Snapdragon 860 included in the Mi Pad 5 series.

Bald Panda stated that Xiaomi might unveil the Mi Pad 5, Mi MIX 4, MIUI 13, and Mi CC11 in August 2021. The Mi MIX 4 is expected to be Xiaomi’s first under-display camera smartphone. Meanwhile, the MIUI 13, possibly an upcoming version of the company’s mobile software, might have floating windows for games and memory fusion technology allowing users to maximise the phone’s ROM.

The Mi CC11 could shape up to be a designer smartphone with an uber-high quality camera.
