OpenAI Launches GPT-4.5 for ChatGPT Pro Users
OpenAI has introduced GPT-4.5, its latest AI model, which is now available as a research preview for ChatGPT Pro users and developers using the API. ChatGPT Plus users will receive access next week, according to research lead Mia Glaese.
The company describes GPT-4.5 as its most knowledgeable model yet, featuring advancements in unsupervised learning and reasoning. The improvements are expected to enhance responses to science-related queries, increase word knowledge and intuition, and reduce instances of hallucination—errors where the AI generates inaccurate information.
GPT-4.5 also offers better contextual understanding, making it more effective for writing, programming, and problem-solving. In a demonstration comparing it to GPT-4, the new model showed an improved ability to interpret social cues in user interactions, particularly in emotionally sensitive situations.
The model provides more nuanced responses, balancing emotional intelligence with logical reasoning. Testers ranked GPT-4.5 higher in emotional awareness compared to previous versions, according to OpenAI.
The update also improves multilingual processing, making ChatGPT more accessible to non-English speakers. GPT-4.5 is now available on web, mobile, and desktop for ChatGPT Pro users, with Plus users set to receive the upgrade next week.
