Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Might Not Launch in Singapore

Updated: Oct 6, 2021

If you're a Google fan, then you have probably heard that the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro will be released soon, according to a recent advertisement from Google Japan. Ads also popped up in countries like the United States and the United Kingdom in recent weeks. Aside from not getting any ads for the devices, Singapore is also missing from the list of launch markets where the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro will be rolled out. So it's possible that consumers in Singapore might not be able to purchase these products.

As mentioned earlier, Google Japan released a teaser of the Pixel 6, which shows off the device's unique design and UI, as seen in the shots of smartphone utilities like weather, messages and the clock. In the video, the Google Tensor processor was flashed onscreen briefly.

Meanwhile, several billboards promoting the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro appeared in New York City in September 2021. These print ads reveal some differences between the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, with the former having black matte rails and the latter coming with a matching black, silver or gold aluminium frame.

In the U.K., Google Pixel became a sponsor of a new British television program called "Highlife", a mix between a documentary and a reality show that looks into the glamourous lives of a group of young British West Africans who are pursuing their own idea of success. One promo features a Gold Pixel 6 Pro being held by one of the cast members. The ending shot of the ad refers to the device as "the new Google phone". It's not clear whether this ad was completed before the technology company finalised the Pixel 6 or whether the device will be promoted as "the new Google Phone" in succeeding months.

Earlier this year, Google announced the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, which will be powered by the firm's first system-on-chip called the Google Tensor, meaning that this will be the first time Google will add a mobile Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) to a phone. The TPU will be able to process Google's most intricate AI and machine learning (ML) models. This will result in improved mobile camera capabilities, speech recognition and other anticipated Pixel 6 features.

When it comes to cameras, the Pixel 6 phones will shoot sharper images with the help of ML, reducing blur in photos.

The Pixel 6 Pro will have three cameras on its back: a wide-angle main sensor, a 4x optical-zoom folded telephoto lens and an ultrawide lens.

On the other hand, the Pixel 6 will have everything but the telephoto lens, leaving it with just two cameras. As seen in the pictures, each smartphone will come in three different colour combos.

Details on the devices' pricing and release date haven't been shared by Google yet, but fans speculate that the Pixel 6 might launch on 19 October 2021 for many reasons.

For one, Australian telecommunications company Telstra encouraged users to register their interest in the Pixel 6 before the aforementioned date. Apart from that, leaker Jon Prosser said that the phone will be launched on 19 October and will go on sale on 28 October. It is also worth mentioning that the calendar widgets shown on the Pixel 6's "For All You Are" ad point to Tuesday, 19 October.

Since this isn't confirmed, we'll just have to wait and see when the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro will be released.
