On paper, the Roborock S6 MaxV looks impressive: a smart robot vacuum cleaner that is not just intelligent, but packed with powerful features that make it stand out from the rest.
The vacuum is powered by the Qualcomm APQ 8053 chip, with two cameras that can process tens of thousands of images to recognize and avoid obstacles in the room.
The dual cameras are equipped with infrared imaging, allowing them to see in the dark, guided by a precision LiDar navigation system. It also has depth perception, allowing it to recognize and avoid objects as tiny as 3cm.
All in all, the specs are pretty impressive for a vacuum cleaner that you can leave to clean up on its own.
Putting it to the test
The Roborock S6 MaxV mapping function is impressive. Once the app is downloaded, you can switch it on and put it to work.
Just a few moments after activation, the Roborock S6 MaxV immediately shows an outline of your home’s layout. Set up is easy, and making it work requires just a tap on the app.
The map shows you every area the Roborock S6 MaxV is able to clean – so you will know if there are areas missed out. Do remember to keep cables away as they could get in the way of the Roborock S6 MaxV as it cleans.
One of the highlights of the Roborock S6 MaxV is the ability to control different areas of your house. You can separate your home into different zones on the Roborock S6 MaxV map.
Once the zones are set up, different modes for each room. The vacuum mode ranges from quiet, balance, turbo and max.
The Roborock S6 MaxV also lets you assign which rooms or zones to clean first, and have different settings for each area. You can even have rooms for heavier cleaning by setting up the number of times you want the Roborock S6 MaxV to pass over the area.
You can also set up a higher suction power for carpeted rooms, or rooms that get dusty, and no-mop for rooms with rugs.
That’s right – the Roborock S6 MaxV has a wet mop attachment that mops your floor if you want it to. This is perfect for dirtier places with heavy traffic.
After vacuuming up dirt and dust – the Roborock S6 MaxV can pass through it with a gentle water wipe.
The user manual did caution against using any floor cleaner agent to avoid corroding the machine; just plain water will do.
The Roborock S6 MaxV’s dual cameras, along with the intelligent processor and ReactiveAI, are there to help the unit recognise and avoid obstacles as it cleans.
You can, should you choose to, turn on the camera while the vacuum cleans your home. Roborock says it does not record images and your privacy and security are looked after.
When you are out of the house, and you want to check on your house, you can activate the Roborock S6 MaxV and turn the camera on, if you suspect a break-in or just to check on your pet.
The Roborock S6 MaxV is a serious robot vacuum cleaner that is versatile and powerful enough for any home. It can even double up as a surveillance camera if you really need one.
The only drawback, as with all other robot vacuum cleaners, is that despite its enhanced cameras and AI capabilities, there are still obstacles like edges of rugs and mats that it cannot always detect and avoid.
