Yogofi Review: Best Wi-Fi Router For Travelling?

  1. 15-hour battery life

  2. Unlimited data

  3. Small and lightweight

  4. Convenient delivery and return

There are so many options available for Wi-Fi router rentals when travelling abroad, Roaming Man, Changi Recommends and more. Recently, I heard about a reliable new option called Yogofi when I was abroad in China for a work trip.

I thought to myself, why not try it out on my own trip? I’ve mostly been using roaming since I have a plan with giga that allows me to purchase 1GB of overseas data at S$5. With that, however, I do have to purchase around 3GB of data since 1GB will never be enough for someone like me who has the constant urge to Instagram story everything I do for memories.

With my work trips usually lasting around 5 or 6 days, I thought it might be a better option to try out Yogofi since they offer unlimited data at a flat rate per day. I tested it out on a recent work trip to Japan, where Yogofi charges S$1.90 per day. At 8 days, that worked out to be $15.20. Already a better deal than the roaming data!

But of course, bringing around a router means additional considerations to keep in mind. Thankfully, the device is small and lightweight, I could easily slip it into a jacket pocket or my jeans pocket when out and about without a bag.

Charging wasn’t much of an issue either since a full charge is claimed to last up to 15 hours. I did notice that mine seemed to last a bit longer since I typically only had 1 device connected to the router most of the time, with around 50% remaining at the end of the day.

I really don’t like the fact that it charges via Micro-USB, since that means I have to bring an additional cable along just to charge the router. However, I do believe most travel routers out there right now are still using Micro-USB ports, so there’s not much to be done about it.

But of course, the speed and connectivity of a travel router are paramount to whether it’s actually useful or not. I’ve found that there’s practically no difference between using my roaming data and the Yogofi router. In fact, when my roaming data was failing me in China, the Yogofi router was actually working perfectly fine and even faster!

The best part? When you order the router from Yogofi, they actually offer the option to pick it up at their office or get free domestic shipping! They’ll deliver the router right to your house or office, and the package includes a pre-paid return envelope that you can just put the router and accessories in, and drop off at any letterbox!

You won’t get charged until you return the router, and it’ll be based on the number of days you actually used the data for. How nice is that? That’s particularly useful if you’re travelling to Europe or faraway countries, where the time spent on planes could make up a full day. You won’t have to pay for that day since it’ll only count the day from when you land and activate the router!
