Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced the immediate suspension of the bus's operations and the formation of a special task force to investigate the incident.
The task force, comprising members from the Road Transport Department (RTD), the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), and the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research, will delve into the cause of the tragedy.
Loke emphasised the seriousness of the incident, stating, "The Ministry of Transport treats this electric shock incident, which tragically resulted in the death of a teenager while he was charging his phone on the express bus, with utmost seriousness."

Reports emerged yesterday detailing the tragic death of a teenage boy who was allegedly electrocuted while attempting to charge his mobile phone on an express bus at Penang Sentral. The victim, Mohamad Nur Asymawi Jasmadi, 18, was discovered lifeless at 6.10pm.
Seberang Perai Utara District police chief ACP Anuar Abd Rahman revealed that a preliminary examination showed burn marks on the victim's left fingers, likely from an electric shock. The end of the phone cable was melted, and the phone itself was warm.
