Tesla Issues Recall for 2,400 Cybertrucks Due to Faulty Part
Tesla recalls 2,400 Cybertruck pickups in the U.S. due to a faulty part that could lead to a loss of power. The issue is with the driver inverter in Cybertrucks manufactured through July 30. Tesla will replace the faulty drive inverters with updated components starting from December 9.
The recall is due to a faulty part that could result in a loss of power, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. The issue lies in the driver inverter of Cybertrucks manufactured through July 30, which could cause the vehicle to stop producing torque when the accelerator pedal is used, leading to a loss of propulsion.
According to Tesla's filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company will replace the recalled drive inverter with a new component that has a functioning part. Although Tesla has received five warranty claims related to the issue, there have been no reported crashes or injuries associated with this problem.
Starting from December 9, Tesla will begin replacing the faulty drive inverters with the updated component. The automaker has been using this improved part in production since July 30. This recall comes after Tesla's recent announcement of recalling over 27,000 Cybertrucks due to delayed rear-view camera images that could impact driver visibility and pose crash risks.
Earlier recalls this year included one in April to address a loose accelerator pedal pad and another in June related to issues with windshield wipers and exterior trim. Despite facing challenges in production and battery supply, Tesla finally commenced deliveries of its futuristic Cybertruck in 2023 after a two-year delay. The company, however, has not disclosed specific production or delivery figures for the model.
The Blade Runner-inspired Cybertruck was introduced by Tesla to refresh its aging lineup amidst a slowdown in electric vehicle demand growth.
