As Singapore prepares to become a leader in quantum security technologies, Toshiba's expertise in Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology is poised to transform the country's digital security.

Singapore's Digital Connectivity Master Plan 2023 predicts significant growth in the information and communications sector, emphasising the importance of digital resilience and security. Quantum computing advancements threaten traditional encryption methods, prompting Singapore to implement quantum-level security technologies such as Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and QKD via the National Quantum-Safe Network Plus (NQSN+).

Toshiba's extensive experience in quantum research has led to the commercialisation of QKD systems, which is a significant step towards a quantum-safe future. The recent establishment of Toshiba's £20 million Quantum Technology Centre in Cambridge, UK, demonstrates the company's commitment to developing secure network solutions based on QKD technology, which uses quantum physics to create robust encryption methods.

Toshiba is driving cutting-edge quantum security solutions through a strategic partnership with SpeQtral, combining fiber-based QKD with satellite-based QKD technology. This collaboration resulted in the establishment of Southeast Asia's first Quantum Networks EXperience Centre (QNEX), which will facilitate demonstrations and prototype development throughout the region.

Furthermore, Toshiba's collaboration with SPTel-SpeQtral aims to educate businesses on quantum technology and incorporate QKD into the NQSN+ network project, thereby improving Singapore's digital infrastructure resilience to quantum threats. Toshiba has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with SpeQtral and ST Engineering to accelerate the development of customised quantum-secure solutions to improve data communications security in critical sectors such as finance and government.
