These educators encounter difficulties due to limited technology and training, creating obstacles in their teaching practices. Dr. Petros Lameras and his team have initiated the GameAid project, aiming to demonstrate to teachers the advantages of using generative AI.

Dr. Lameras emphasised the significance of the project, stating, "We are not just enhancing skills but fundamentally changing how educators engage with technology in the classroom." Generative AI, also known as Gen AI, has the capability to produce text, images, speech, music, video, and code in response to user prompts.

In Vietnam, urban areas typically have superior access to technology and educational resources compared to rural regions. Coventry researchers believe that AI can play a vital role in providing educational materials, enhancing student learning outcomes, and bridging the gap between educators from under-represented groups.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a collaborator on the project, highlighted the importance of GameAid. She mentioned, "The GameAid project equips teachers with simple guidelines and tools to integrate generative AI into lesson development, fostering innovation in education." The project aims to reduce the educational disparity between urban and rural areas in Vietnam, ensuring equal access to new learning opportunities.
