Verizon Opens in Singapore but Not for Consumers
American wireless network operator Verizon today announced it has opened and inaugurated a new office in Singapore.
The telecommunications giant looks to use the recently-expanded headquarters to connect and secure the region’s digital ecosystem, particularly providing private 5G, cybersecurity and advanced network technologies as it continues to serve its multinational corporate clients. And businesses will remain the focus of the company locally, not consumers.
The new office is located at Ocean Financial Center in the heart of Singapore’s central business district. Its inauguration was attended by Verizon’s Chief Revenue Officer Sampath Sowmyanarayan and Honorable Ambassador Jonathan Kaplan from the U.S. Embassy in Singapore.
“Verizon’s presence in Singapore stretches back almost 30-years. Singapore is one of the most important regional locations to support our global clients and we have made investments in metro fiber, data centers and cable stations in Singapore in view of the strategic importance to our customers," said Mr Sowmyanarayan.
"We thank the U.S. Embassy for being an important partner in promoting the U.S. business’ role in supporting Singapore’s competitiveness as a regional financial hub,” he added.
Verizon Singapore offers managed network connectivity, security, advanced communications, among other professional services to more than a hundred corporations based in the country.
“Verizon is one of the world's leading providers of Information and Communications Technology services,” said Mr Kaplan. “Verizon’s office expansion in Singapore underscores Singapore’s pro business, open economy and robust intellectual property protection making it a preferred regional business hub for the US companies to reach Asia.”
Founded in the year 2000, Verizon has become one of the leading providers of technology and communications services not only in the U.S. but also in the world. Its main office is located in New York City. The company posted an operating revenue of $133.6 billion in full-year 2021.
