WhatsApp is preparing to launch a new advanced chat privacy feature aimed at giving users more control over how their messages and media are shared.

The feature, spotted in a beta version by WABetaInfo, will be available on Android and is expected to arrive on iPhone devices as well. It is designed to prevent automatic media downloads and block the export of entire chat histories outside the app.
When enabled, the feature stops media from being saved to a device’s gallery and restricts chat exports. Users with auto-save settings turned on will receive a notification stating, “Can’t auto-save media. Advanced chat privacy has been turned on and prevents media auto-saving to your device’s gallery.”
The update also disables all interactions with Meta AI within the conversation when the privacy setting is active.
The feature will be optional and can be managed individually for each chat.
Although users can still take screenshots, the new setting adds an extra layer of privacy and security by limiting how content is shared or stored without consent.
There is no confirmed release date for the feature yet.
