Xiaomi’s Mi TV P1 Offers a 4K UHD Experience at an Affordable Price
Updated: Aug 21, 2021
Xiaomi has finally made its collection of Smart TVs available for sale in Singapore and it’s just in time because our TV watching habits have changed significantly in the last decade. Gone are the days when we flip channels endlessly to find something interesting to watch, we now watch what we want, when we want, where we want.
And that means possibly having multiple TVs at home – if you can afford it.
The Xiaomi Mi TV P1 series is an affordable collection of premium, next-generation smart TVs that have arrived in Singapore. Accessibility and affordability are the main selling points of this series – you get all the bells and whistles that come with higher-end televisions without the hefty price tag.

What we particularly like about the Xiaomi Mi TV P1 is that it is an Android TV that is well integrated into the Android ecosystem.
Most of the TV apps you can find and download on an Android TV box will likely be on the Xiaomi Mi TV P1 as well.
And since it is an Android TV, there are mics on the panel and the remote control for use with Google Assistant, so you can use your voice to launch apps and shows to watch. You can even use the TV to control every other smart device you have connected to your Google Home ecosystem just by saying “Ok Google”.
If your favourite Android App is not on the TV – you can easily mirror what’s on your phone to the TV with 2 simple taps to launch Miracast or Chromecast.
The midrange smart TV is big on premium features like Dolby Vision and HDR10+ for enhanced details in both dark and bright environments. It also has a 94% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, and a 1.07-billion colour display for true-to-life colours and picture quality.

The 4K UHD display is almost borderless from the front angle and the 3,840 X 2,160 resolution is a joy to watch even from the side, with its generous 178°(H)/178°(V) viewing angle.
The MEMC feature also automatically compensates in low-frame-rate videos to remove screen tears and motion blur – giving you sharp images at all times when watching sports or racing content.
The TV delivers Dolby Audio and DTS-HD 3D sound with two 10W stereo speakers, and the P1 is powered by a Mediatek quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage for a snappy experience.
Though the performance of the Mi TV P1 is superb for its price range, it does fall short on the hardware side.

The front angle may appear bezel-less, but look at it from the side and you do see a big bulky bottom half, and overall, it’s quite thick and hefty while the legs are made of plastic and feels flimsy to the touch. However, if you are mounting it on the wall – these minor aesthetic shortfalls would not pose any problems.
All this comes at a very reasonable price from Xiaomi’s online stores on Lazada and Shopee.
The 55-inch Xiaomi Mi TV P1 is priced at S$999, while the 43-inch model is only S$799 and the 32-inch is just S$329.
